Meet the Coach & Camp Information
My name is Dr. Gerardo Ruiz, PT, DPT, OCS, also known as coach G, I have played all kinds of sports all my life, with a special passion for soccer since I was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Biology and my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Texas Tech University with the idea of providing care to athletes and being involved in sports. Since providing care to athletes has been my dream, I have obtained my Orthopedic Clinical Specialization through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2018 and I’m currently working on becoming a certified in strength and conditioning specialist. I am also "dry needle" and "spine manipulative" certified.
Soccer is a big part of my life I have three sons 10,8 and 4 all boys and my older two have been playing club soccer at Gulf Coast Soccer for six years. I have a D coaching license from the US soccer federation. I have also been coaching speed and agility for the Next Level Circuit Training for the last year at GCYSC.
Speed and agility it’s a very comprehensive topic that sometimes gets overlooked or/and forgotten. An athlete should be able to have proper mechanical and motor skills to perform not only the physical demands and skills that Soccer requires but any other sport too. During our camp, we will focus on research-based speed, agility, and strength training that will help our athletes reach the next level in their soccer career.
Our camp will focus on running technique, acceleration, deceleration, change of direction, jumping mechanics and landing mechanics, conditioning, strength, flexibility, and injury prevention. All of these will help the athlete develop and be ready to play any sport like Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Volleyball, and more.
Camp Fee: $45
Duration: 5-days, 1 hour each
Location: Gulf Coast Soccer Complex
I look forward to seeing everyone at the camp!
